The Oak Ridges Moraine Trail Association is gearing up for their annual “Moraine Adventure Relay” race from Gore’s Landing on Rice Lake to Seneca College in King City, this June 2013. Having never competed in an adventure race before, it took me two seconds to decide that I’d like to take part. I’m not sure what the attraction is, but I am looking forward to a great recreational experience and some fun. Aside from the “race” aspect, it’s right up my alley. All I need is a team.
If you haven’t tried it before, adventure relay racing, might be what you’re looking for. This one pits teams of 15 people each completing one of 14 stages across 160 km of the Oak Ridges Moraine trail in a relay race. The stages are as follows:
- Canoe, 1 stage. It is the only stage with 2 participants from each team
- Hike/Run, 6 stages
- Mountain bike, 7 stages
I am looking for primarily canoeists and mountain bikers to fill out a Recreational category roster. Note, we are not competing in the Elite category, we are just out to complete the course and have some fun. Take a look at the race details on the “Moraine Adventure Relay” website. If you would like to join the TrekOntario team, then complete the form below and I’ll be in touch.
I’m interested in joining Team TrekOntario for 2013:
